DECC launched the original non-domestic scheme in
2011, but have now enhanced the scheme to include
ASHP's as a qualifying technology.
The Non-Domestic RHI is open to the commercial sector
including industrial, commercial, public sector and
not-for-profit organisations with eligible installations.
The objective of the Non-Domestic RHI is
to significantly increase the proportion of
heat generated from renewable sources.
By driving change in a heat sector
currently dominated by fossil fuel
technologies, the RHI can help the UK
meet EU targets to reduce carbon
emissions and improve energy security.
Tariffs are paid quarterly for every kWh of
renewable heat energy that is delivered to a property. Each technology attracts a different tarrif based on how much more expensive it is than a traditional system.
High capital costs or higher running costs result in larger tariffs – so low tariffs deliver the same ROR as high tariffs.
